I’ve been dreaming so foolishly,
in such inane sequences of envy and coveted-ness.
All the time that’s been wasted,
hatin’ the player instead of the game . . .
is it all worth it?
I am not the model, nor the football player.
I am not the ladies’ man, nor am I the party starter.
I… am 155 lbs. of humanity and insecurity.
I am bony arms and legs, with bony fingers and toes.
I am a mark in the middle of my forehead, received from a childhood accident.
I am gaps between my teeth, teeth which, by the way, are not the whitest they could be.
I am dark cocoa skin, a mixture of my father’s ebony skin and my mother’s caramel skin.
I am joy, I am pain, I am sunshine and rain.
I am fear, I am doubt, yet envy is a sickness that needs washing out.
I AM ME, I AM ME, I AM ME, and from now on, I will be me until there’s no more of me.
Two new lives just entwined,
Old relationships left behind,
To the start of something new,
From the first day I met you,
I knew this was it,
Such shocking beauty I will admit,
Laughing, giggling and singing along,
A connection that is so strong,
Between you and I,
As we watch the stars in the sky,
One touch of your lips against mine,
Brought chills all down my spine,
So grab my hand,
And together well stand.

Daddy I Miss You,
Everyday life is getting hard,
Without you here being my guard,
Everyones talking to me but I don’t hear any sound,
Ever since that dad I put you in the ground,
I need to feel your love,
As you look at me from heavens above,
Save me a place next to you,
So I can have a good seat to,
I miss you more and more all the time,
I cant seem to get you off my mind,
I know you loved me cuz those were your last words,
Now you are flying with the birds,
Its so hard to live without you,
You were my mentor and guide,
You were always on my side,
When I messed up and did something wrong,
You taught me to just stay strong,
When I lay awake at night,
I try not to cry with all my might,
I Miss You Daddy…..

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little girl, Shelby. She wanted to know what the United States looked like. Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Shelby and said, ‘Go into the other room and see if you can put this together. This will show you our whole country today.’ After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map correctly fitted and taped together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. ‘Oh,’ she said, ‘on the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our country just came together.’
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Sitting here on the edge of insanity
wondering about life,pain and vanity
asking oneself what would you do
if you jumped and never though it through
What lies at the bottom?
rock, water, or just plain boredom?
and it pains you to think
that you want to jump but just won’t sink
Into the deep black depths
where it is cold
but some how you know
you fell at home
Not listening to a sound
you give into the pound
that’s in your head
telling you to stop when you move forward instead
You slip, you fall
feeling nothing at all
pain has left you
Vanity no more, and your life has been taken from you
as you fall to the floor
You wake in a trance
Dazed at the dream
Wondering how it could be
then you go, and you sit, at the edge of insanity.
